This game really looks to be coming together!

The videos contain first time footage of the chainsaw, bile bombs and even a glimpse of the walking witch. The new weather effects are also looking great, we were very impressed over here at L4DMODS and we cant wait to battle it through terenchal rain and thunderstorms. Enjoy the footage!

Left For Dead New DLC Acid Caribou 8, August

Left 4 Dead Crash Course DLC Full of Zombies and Free of Charge

Just because a Valve’s got a new baby sloshing around in its tremendous, engorged Boomer womb (insert baby Boomer joke here) doesn’t mean the developer’s going to start neglecting its first undead child. The proof? A brand new, totally free DLC campaign is on the way for stalwart L4D1 supporters.

Titled “Crash Course,” the new campaign fits snugly between No Mercy and Death Toll, chronologically speaking. Along with new Campaign and Survival maps, new character dialogue, a recharge timer for Infected teammates, and rebalanced item spawns also put the C in this DLC.
The new scenarios will, of course, work fine and dandy with Campaign mode, but apparently, Crash Course’s true purpose is to be a “30 minute” showcase for Versus mode. You know, more like a typical multiplayer shooter.

It’s out in September. And it’s free! Unless you’ve been so horrendously wronged by the existence of Left 4 Dead 2 that even Valve’s continued support of L4D1 (the very thing you feared for when L4D2 was announced) isn’t enough to stop your steaming, you’ll play it. You’ll play it and you’ll love it because, well, why not?

Add-Ons

Are Third Party Campaign (Made by the community), that will allow content authors to package their maps, movie posters, models, and textures into a single .VLK file. Installation of these add-ons are a simple double click to download and install.

If preferred you can download and then drag the file into the add-ons folder that will be added to your steam client in the next update. The Add-Ons option will be selected from the Extra’s menu on the Menu Main (See Below).

Official L4D 2 Boycott Acid Caribou 16, June

The backlash for Left For Dead 2 continues, and the community group at the cusp of it all (L4D2 Boycott) is now 31,000+ members strong.

Wonder what is at the heart of it all? Read the list of demands and let us know if you think it’s warranted.

WE RECOGNIZE:
-Valve is a company with financial needs and cannot be expected to survive without the release of new games.
-Judgment cannot be passed on the quality of Left 4 Dead 2 until its release.
-Left 4 Dead was, and is, a quality game which deserves the praise of the entire gaming community.

WE ARE COMMITTED:
-To holding Valve to its promise of free, continual updates to Left 4 Dead in order to build and sustain the community.
-To keeping the Left 4 Dead community together in order to improve the quality of online gaming.
-To supporting the model of continual updates Valve has set forth with its staple products like Team Fortress 2.

WE BELIEVE:
-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 as a stand-alone sequel will split the communities and decrease the quality of multiplayer gaming.
-The announced content of Left 4 Dead 2 does not warrant a stand-alone, full-priced sequel and should instead become updates (free or otherwise) for Left 4 Dead.
-Left 4 Dead has not yet received the support and content which Valve has repeatedly stated will be delivered.
-The release of Left 4 Dead 2 will make Left 4 Dead an obsolete purchase and inferior piece of software after only one year since release.

WE REQUEST:
-That Valve honor its commitment to release ongoing periodic content for Left 4 Dead.
-That Left 4 Dead 2 not be released as a stand-alone, full-priced sequel but as either a free update to Left 4 Dead or an expansion with full compatibility with basic Left 4 Dead owners.
-That Left 4 Dead owners be given discounts for Left 4 Dead 2, should it be released as premium content.
Therefore, we – the members of this Left 4 Dead 2 Boycott – promise to abstain from the purchase of Left 4 Dead 2 until our requests are addressed.

Here is a summary of the configuration:

1.) The server will run all stock maps in rotation

2.) Will maintain separate HLstatsX (at least for the first few weeks)

3.) Will be primarily administrated by the SGC under the command of Socialized Medicine, and Lvace

Please remember to thank Socialized Medicine, Lvace, and any other members of the SGC community for their contribution.

The Trailer

The teaser trailer gives away many details of the new installment in the Left 4 Dead Series by giving away the location weapon details, new weapons and new monsters.

The Setting

Left 4 Dead 2 takes place inside a City in Louisiana during a Fall Festival which I would presume is Denham Springs which is located just east of Baton Rouge.
Staying true to Left 4 Dead you will assume the role of one of Four Survivors who are either immune to the Virus or have not been bit by the Infected. By the look of things fighting will mostly take place in an urban environment however I can confirm you will have to fight your way across a heavy infected bridge that can be seen in the teaser trailer.

image

The Survivors
To briefly touch on the Survivors they have the same make up of Left 4 Dead – 3 Guys and 1 girl. A great deal of information was not giving about them however it looks like we have a Farmers Helper, A business Man of some sort, and possibly a father daughter combination (subject to change not finalized).

image

The Infected:
Bigger, Badder, and more Bad ass seems to be the theme. The Infected AI has been changed a bit to focus on those who run off alone, or are the worst injured, which should make a lot of people happy as it will get rid of the players who do not play as a team, which I will get into more detail about later on.
The Infected can also take more damage which was shown in the cut scene. How much more damage they can take was not disclosed. We can assume it is a couple more shots to put them down. It would also seem from what was said that just because an Infected loses an arm means it is dead. They will still be able to move. Nothing was mentioned if they lose a leg.
Left 4 Dead 2 will also introduce new Special Infected the only one that has been shown or mentioned was The Charger. On top of that The Special Infected from Left 4 Dead will return.

image

AI Director:
The AI director can now control weather how fast it gets dark, fog etc giving Left 4 Dead 2 a completely new feel to how it can be played and how you will have to make your way through the game, because when it gets dark its dark you will barely be able to see your buddy beside you.

Weapons:
There are 20 new Weapons and Items in Left 4 Dead 2, below are the confirmed weapons. That I used in game.
- Silenced Uzi
- Ax
- Frying Pan
- Glock 21 ( The orignal Pistol makes an apparence in the game as well. Pistols can be mixed and matched in dual wielding. Meaning you can have a Glock and a 9mm)
- Fire Rounds are a new item. When Fired from you weapon the will make the Infected Catch on Fire.
- Chromed Shotgun
- SPAS 12
- Semi – Automatic Sig w/ Sniper Scope
- FN SCAR
- Chain Saw (I did not use this one but I saw it being used)
