The new [ODR66] Left For Dead 2 Community server is up and running, and while the dedicated server support isn’t perfect, it is still much improved over the original.
The easiest way to join is to be part of the [ODR66] Community Group, at which point it will show up normally in your game, but this method only allows you to join, and vote for new maps in-game.
If you want to connect from a lobby and set your own rules, use the following method:
1.) Enter the settings menu and make sure you enable “Developers Console”
2.) Enter the Console by pressing the ~ key (its the key directly to the left of the “1” key.
3.) Type sv_search_key odr66 (then press enter)
4.) Now create a lobby and launch!
If nobody is online to play with when you launch don’t worry about it, once in-game I find it fills fast! As long as at least one person is in it, it usually never takes more than a few min.
Let me know if you have any issues using it, and hope more people will make use of it this time!
Enjoy!

Check out some new footage of the new Left For Dead 2 campaign called “Hard Rain”
This game really looks to be coming together!
A ship load of new footage has washed ashore L4DMODS featuring the recently announced Hard Rain campaign that will feature in Left4Dead 2. The videos contain first time footage of the chainsaw, bile bombs and even a glimpse of the walking witch. The new weather effects are also looking great, we were very impressed over here at L4DMODS and we cant wait to battle it through terenchal rain and thunderstorms. Enjoy the footage!

A database problem with our provider has temporarily knocked out in-game admin functions.
This should be a temporary problem, and i’ll let you know when they have it fixed.
I’ve fixed up the administrative permissions for all active ODR66 members, and I would ask that you help us to continue growing our community page with new recruits.
Send along invites to everyone you play with on the server, and lets try to bring more people into the community to help bolster our populations.

A big thanks goes out to Oracular Egging, AKA Carrion Luggage for finding this awesome clip.
Enjoy!

Bell customers should notice that pings have improved significantly over what they have been seeing the past few days on our new primary server. The issue was a routing problem caused by Bell, and was never a problem with the quality, or configuration of the server.
I’m pleased with the new GSP’s ability to track down the issue, and get the ISP to take action. It would have been very easy for them to dismiss this issue as “not their problem”.
Please join us on our newly upgraded high performance server.
Thanks!

There is a known (and hopefully temporary) issue with our new Community Server #1 and Bell DSL customers. Below is the response from our new Game Server Provider:

Rogers customers normally ping 5-10ms as im on Rogers myself I noticed today its abit higher than usual.
I will investigate the Rogers pings now.
As for Bell. Our Bell customers use to ping 20ms up to 1 month ago. Bell made some routing changes which affected routing to our servers.
I currently have a ticket open with my transit provider to fix the Bell issue.
You can see on our forums we are actively pursuing this issue as its affecting all our customers.

PS: what was the IP of your old GSP

If your on Bell DSL, please consider visiting our forum thread on the issue to help us collect as much information as possible on the issue.

Guys & Gals,
As you may, or may not have heard by now, our server provider for ODR66 #1 is closing its Toronto operations on October 15th.
As a result we have been forced to source a new provider, and were able to find one located within the same data center. This new server is an upgrade over what we had previously, and is now configured and ready to go. Thanks to a completely rebuilt architecture, you will also find it much more stable then the one it is replacing.
The HLstatsX haven’t been transferred yet, but rest assured, they will be soon, and your stats will be preserved.
Our current plan is to keep the old server active until October 1st, but feel free to use the new server starting now. Please help us get the word out about the move, and check out the new home of ODR66.
See below for the new IP

Dear Team & Community,
I have completed the transition of moving odr66.com and all its web services, over to a new hosting provider.
My benchmarks have shown a 500% improvement to the speed, but it has lead to Database migration problems.
The Database is a MySQL file that contains all of your posts, messages, and accounts.
Everything is intact, but a glitch had kept me from being able to export and import the database myself properly (hence the downtime the last few days).
To get this to work I needed to post a ticket to my old provider to get the dump, then log a ticket with my new provider to get it imported. Between those two events, you guys had done some posting which wasn’t included in the prior dump. I’m doing everything I possibly can to import just those items, but it may take time, and I don’t want to risk corrupting the database that now seems to be working.
I have signed a 2 year hosting plan so this will NEVER be a problem again, and I apologize for the problem.
You can now post away without hesitation.
This upgrade will make all of our web services faster, and more scalable in the future.
Please don’t hate me
It is with great pleasure that I welcome Sev to the ODR66 admin team. Sev has been a long standing member of our community, and commands the respect of everybody he meets.
